| I am from Aus though currently here in Malaysia, which was why I was looking for a GP1 here (locally). I have an '03 RS250 (last ones made) at home, which is staying stock and my bike being upgraded to the TSS is a '98 Mk2 (GP1) model and is currently sitting in the TSS Workshop in Cairns while Steve and Wobbly are putting together the engines in New Zealand. I cant say that is my engine, though mine is definitely one of the ones currently being assembled. Of course, thats just the start with a lot of other bits and pieces being sourced or already waiting to go onto the bike like the mille 4 pad brembo's, 19*18 MC, CF fairing kit, Domino throttle, AIM Pista Dash, etc....... | |

| Which leeds me to the question I asked before in the Sales section, does anyone know of any GP1's for sale here in Malaysia? I have been looking but only seem to find 97 models and earlier. Thanks in advance, Chris | |

| Not a problem, I am happy to post what I have, should I start a new thread for this as I dont want to jack someone elses thread? The reason I am looking for a GP1 here in Malaysia is to make one here also, cause I am going to miss having a bike for my stay if I dont find one locally, basically it will drive me nuts..... | |

| Hey guys, are there any RS250 GP1's in Malaysia or should I be looking at alternatives like getting a 97 bike and changing out the subframe, dash, front end, rims etc? I wanted another 98-03 model, but if they arent available, I am wasting time looking which could be spent on riding an older model.... Thanks in advance, Chris | |

| The one in the UK (ebay) is not mine. For my Hybrid, I bought a 98 model GP1 (manufactured 1998) which had a blown cylinder in Australia (for RM6000) and then stripped it down for the motor to be implanted. Everything else apart from the motor was in very good condition except the front lower fairings, but I am getting carbon fibre fairings constructed for the bike, so not a problem. The motor can be bought as parts or complete (or only certain parts if required) and they also offer a cradle, which add a little more room for the bigger motor footprint. Afgter that, it is just assembly and depending on the aftermarket parts you want to put on your bike is personal choice. I will start a new thread (as soon as I get time) and show progress through the build as I go, as of now, I am only waiting for the motor itself and pipes then I can go at it for assembly. | |

| You can do the same project with the earlier model bike, the one in the UK is a Mk1, not a GP1, the only difference is the subframe (alloy in the GP1), the front end (Showa) wheels (wider), electronic dash. Thing is a lot of guys like the shape of the older model, and you are personalising everything else, so change what you dont like to suit your riding style and taste. | |

| I dint go the HRC front end, though it is a definite option. The HRC front end is a different size again, though TSS will machine the trees to get it to fit, though then you have to either fit a Honda front rim and axle etc. so again it causes a few more issues/costs that flow on. The GP1 front end is fine, just get it set up for you and the bikes new weight and you will be laughing. The prices are all in USD due to their suppliers being mostly from the US and the Aus dollar fluctuating all the time.. All the parts I bought off them I also payed in US dollars on the day of transaction, and that was from within Aus. Where you get it shipped to wont matter for the cost, only on the tax when it lands. As for me, I am getting to the point where I will be looking at an earlier model to work with as I will have 2 years to work on it and have been unable to source a GP1. | |

| IMHO its not worth using d mk1 as a base coz it will cost so much more. u will need to upgrade d marzzo forks 2 d showa. Calc frm d website prices, it will run 2 abt rm40k all in at least. As for me, if i sell my rs and add d 40k budget, i'd rather get a used RSV or tuono, well thats just me : ) | |

| The costing needs to be worked in to it, but also take into account that it is still al ot cheaper than a brand new Ducati, R1, MV, etc. and not as common. Prices vary depending for the parts depending on where you look, I have found 98 front ends (with wheel) for around RM2000. Of course any bike is not for anyone with people doing all kinds of crazy stuff to individualise their bikes. I went the other way to getting a used RSV or Tuono as I was looking at the Ducati's and the MV's when I found this bike conversion and love the Power:Weight that it offers and the fact that 2strokers (RG500, RZ500, RDLC) were the bikes that were "the bike to have" when I was growing up. As the saying goes, different strokes for different folks. | |

| The RS is among the list of toys i gotta have b4 i ... i wanted an RS since 1997 but then i didnt hv the means to own 1. like you said, power to weight, there's nothing like it, until i tested a 1098 and the latest F4 last month, which lead me thinking abt this conversion as well. I want a bike with the same level of performance at 1/3 d cost ... cant convince the wife mostly | |

| Nice bikes in their own right and I have actually been looking at a 1098 project bike too. Of course big differences between them all when you look at the specs and dynocharts. The main thing that got me looking at the RS is that at home, I mostly ride around town, so dont mind the less comfortable seating position. Of course, they (TSS) have some pretty impressive dyno charts up (280km/h at 100bhp), and my friends running the same motors report similar (though they opted to put them in Yamaha frames) in a pretty light setup....... | |
